Privacy Policy

This policy explains how information may be handled when you visit Olney-Fraser's website, contact us, or use online services such as Ask our AI. It describes the website at a general level; a specific member firm or legal engagement may provide additional privacy information.

01

Information you choose to share

You can browse this website without telling us who you are. If you contact us, apply to join the partnership, use Ask our AI, request a lawyer referral, or otherwise communicate with us, you may choose to provide details such as your name, email address, location or jurisdiction, professional or organisation details, and the contents of your message or legal question.

Please do not include information that is confidential, privileged, highly sensitive, or unnecessary to your enquiry in a website form or AI conversation. A website interaction does not by itself create a lawyer-client relationship or make information legally privileged.

02

How information is used

Information may be used to respond to enquiries, consider partnership applications, provide a service you request, facilitate a requested introduction to a lawyer, operate and protect the website, improve our online services, and meet legal or professional obligations. We aim to use information only for purposes connected with the interaction or service for which it was provided.

Olney-Fraser is a global legal network with member firms and independent legal professionals in different jurisdictions. If you request legal assistance or a referral, relevant information may be shared with the lawyer or firm best placed to respond. The lawyer or firm may handle that information under its own privacy notice and professional obligations.

03

Ask our AI and service providers

Ask our AI is an AI-assisted information service. Messages and conversation context submitted to the chat are sent to OpenAI models through Vercel AI Gateway to generate a response. Vercel and OpenAI may process that information under their own terms and privacy notices, and processing may take place in more than one country. The current chat does not provide saved conversation history; it remains in the active page session.

AI responses may be inaccurate and are not legal advice. Do not submit confidential client material, sensitive personal information, or information you would not want processed by the service providers. Review the AI-specific disclaimers before using the service.

04

Website analytics and third parties

The production website uses Vercel Analytics. The website may also link to third-party websites and services, which have their own privacy practices. We do not control those services; please review their notices before sharing information with them.

Information may be disclosed to service providers supporting the website or a requested service, to a lawyer or firm when you ask for a referral, or where disclosure is required to comply with law, protect rights, or address security concerns. We do not describe this list as exhaustive of every processing that may be required by law or by the specific service you choose to use.

05

Retention, security and your choices

Information is kept for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, applicable professional or legal requirements, and legitimate operational needs. Retention by an external AI or other service provider may also be governed by that provider's terms and settings.

We use reasonable measures intended to protect information, but no website or method of transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of personal information, or to object to certain processing. Those rights and any applicable exceptions depend on local law.

06

Contact and updates

For a privacy question or request, contact us through the Contact Us page and include enough detail for us to understand your request. Please do not send sensitive information unless it is necessary.

We may update this policy as the website, services, or applicable requirements change. The version published on this page applies from its publication. If you need a policy tailored to a particular Olney-Fraser member firm or legal engagement, please refer to the notice provided by that firm.
