How We Are Structured
One, Big International Firm
We are one firm operating through five regional partnerships: Olney-Fraser (US) LLP, Olney-Fraser (UK, Europe, Canada) LLP, Olney-Fraser (China, Hong Kong) LLP, Olney-Fraser (Asia, Aust/NZ, LATAM) LLP, and Olney-Fraser (Middle East, Central Asia, Africa) LLP. Global management is provided by a shared-services company based in the UK.
Licensed Entities
Each of our regional partnerships is licensed to provide legal services, or is in the approvals process to obtain a licence, in most jurisdictions around the world. This is a significant undertaking which will take some years to complete.
Partners
Partners of Olney-Fraser are partners of one of our 5 regional partnerships. They join the partnership in their region. All partners are equal. New partners are welcome.
Our structure is purposefully designed to ensure efficient coordination and seamless client service across jurisdictions in a way that meets the compliance requirements of local regulations applicable to lawyers.

Our approach to Offices
We do not believe in large, expensive offices. With changes to the way that lawyers work and clients interact, a big office in every city is not necessary in a modern global law firm. With a shift to more work-from-home and other hybrid work environments, law firm offices serve a different purpose now. They are an important place for clients to meet with us and conduct negotiations with other parties, and for our practice groups to co-ordinate their work, but we don't need to make all our lawyers come into an office everyday. Besides, offices are a huge cost and that impacts clients through increased billings and partners through reduced drawings. We have offices where we need them.
FOUNDER
DARREN OLNEY-FRASER
International Lawyer
Our founder, Darren Olney-Fraser, is an experienced international lawyer who works closely with other lawyers in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Over his legal career, he has worked for the biggest international law firms in the world including Baker McKenzie and Andersen Legal and the top-tier Australian law firm Blake Dawson Waldron that is now part of Ashurst Perkins Coie.
Darren initially founded Olney-Fraser in 2002, and set the firm on a growth path for international expansion in 2026.
He is a tech-savvy entrepreneurial lawyer whose interest in tech comes from his quest to deliver the most cost-effective solutions available to clients at all times. He is passionate about changing the way the law is practised into the next generation.
Darren is admitted to practise as a Barrister & Solicitor in Australia (since 1990), and is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in the United Kingdom (since 2022).
We are still setting up many of the LLPs and licensed entities that will form the backbone of Olney-Fraser. Until these are set up and approved by local regulators, we may not be able to provide legal services to clients in some jurisdictions.
